This summer I got really tired of sticky footstraps and booties
and decided to hunt for better technology. I found
a truly frictionless combination:

Footstrap: Dakine "Supremo". Stiff but comfortable. Gets
its stiffness from the material, not from some kludgy
anti-twist mountings. Much more comfortable and easier to
install than the "pro contour".

Bootie: Basic neoprene bootie from Heatwave Custom Wetsuits,
2301 Mission St, Santa Cruz, 831-458-2960. As you head for
the coast on hwy 1 they are 1 block short of Swift on the left.

This bootie doesn't have any rubber on the sides or top to catch
in the straps. Today's booties all have too much added value on
the top and sides.

Some in this group, no doubt blessed with perfect footwork,
may scorn this seemingly excessive attention to a minor detail,
put forth during the actual sailing season. Nevertheless I
humbly offer the fruit of my quest to all.
