I've sailed TI several times over past few weeks, with similar experience that pager reading didn't seem to reflect reality. I was out last Sunday, 3/9, and did subsequently notice that during one bleak period of slogging the "lull" reading had dropped quite a bit on the iWind graph - TI has unusually tight range IMHO.

However, my main observation is that I believe there is some sort of venturi effect (probably not the right term as I'm not an engineer) going on where there is a band of higher wind right near northern shoreline. I've been told that the gauge is on a house right there, so it could be reflecting that band of higher windspeed, rather than offshore conditions.

Just my $0.02.....
