Tested TI yesterday afternoon on the biggest gear I regularly keep
on the car > 5.8 wave sail and a 97 liter board. I weigh 190 pounds
but I'm pretty efficient in terms of upwind and getting on a plane.
The readings were ranging from 19 to 23 on SW direction and I was
ranging from dangerously underpowered to nicely powered and jumping.
The fog was moving in and out from the west. The wind shifted a
couple of times so that I would suddenly be downwind of the launch
area even though I had been holding my own against the flood. I did
find that I had to focus on upwind most of the time and I threw just
as many tacks as jibes. Another guy John who is lighter was on a
6.5 and a slightly floatier board and he had to work a bit but not
as hard. We both ended up coming in well below the launch area
after the wind dropped and we had to take whatever landing we could
get.
