The pillar just west of the shipping channel does have a ladder
(enclosed in a safety cage). I did not look closely enough to see if it
was locked.

I was happy not to repeat this feat!

A friend thought he saw a sail by the S side frontage road, E end of the
Dumbarton Bridge on Sunday, but it's not there now. Does anyone have
any other clues about my rig?
