Re. Earth Day Celebration at Coyoter Point - April 20 @ 10:00 a.m.

An alliance of good environmental groups are planning to run a series of
walks for earth day with a rally at Coyote Point on April 20th (Sat) at 10
a.m. They were hoping to have some windsurfers or kiters out so that people
(possibly including our political leaders and press) can see that we use the
Bay and that it has a value for recreation. Unfortunately winds are likely to
be light at that hour and they are going to be on the bluff between the usual
sailing area and the Marina. I'm hoping that someone who can make it look fun
in light wind (kiter/racer) will be interested. Think about it or spread the
word if you know someone who might be willing to give it a shot.

Thanks,

Peter Thorner

The Earth Day Bay Walk is a five-day trip starting in Mountain View on
Thursday, April 18, and arriving in San Francisco on Earth Day '\224 April 22.
People are invited to join the walk for an hour, a day, or the entire trip.
This will be a supported walk, meaning we will transport your gear, provide
meals, and camp out overnight.

At rallies along the way, participants will learn about issues affecting the
Bay such as San Francisco Airport's plan to fill up to one square mile of the
Bay '\224 an area twice as large as Treasure Island '\224 for new runways. We also
will learn about the possible acquisition of 19,000 acres of salt ponds in
the South Bay for inclusion in the San Francisco Bay Wildlife Refuge.
