This sounds like a great option. Just make sure they use thread that will
hold up (heaby futy nylon?). I had a sail repair guy use cotton thread to
repair a top line and it blew out on the water while I was well offshore.
It's amazing how worthless a sail is when it is rigged on 2' less of mast.
