Word is that he was injured on just about every part of his body. He was
treated on site and refused to be transported by the ambulance. Many of the
kiters up there are doing a good job of working into the pattern and keeping
their lines high, but I did notice beginner kiters launching upwind at the
access where a downwind trip taked you right into the play pen where the
beginners and the kids are. One beginner was having a friend wade behind them
and hold their harness to keep them under control. It seemed to me that you
should not be attached to a kite you can't control with your own weight,
period. I was told that there is a move to create a specific kite area
downwind of the Access. I'm not sure if this spot will work for the beginner
kiters or not.
