Sailing on a skateboard is an excellent way to develop sail handling
skills, and you don't need nearly as much wind as you do to sail on the
water either. Finding a wide open, smooth clean surface with some wind
is usually the greatest challenge. A BIG board and WIDE trucks makes
it easy. Really big wheels will make more surfaces available. Seach
the web for "street sailing".
There's a guy in the city who makes some really nice boards, several models.

I'd also recomemend an ABK windsurfing camp. If you can arrange one
long weekend for yourself, you'll make a huge advance in your skills and
understanding. they'll be at Rio all of July.
