Bill Robberson has been meeting with GGNRA on an almost daily basis. I will
have him post an update in the near future. As I posted earlier, the GGNRA
will be allowing more astroturf if someone can come up with it. This should
be cleared with Bill so that it goes in the right spot. GGNRA has engineers
looking at the beach erosion problem but they may take some time to come up
with an action plan.

In the face of the efforts by SFO to fill the Bay, it is important that
people go to the public hearings regarding SFO and write letters to the BCDC
to express concern over the extent to which these kinds of plans and
"improvements" fail. SFO will propose to make windsurfing better through
various projects. We need to stress that these projects may or may not be
succesful. SFO is also doing sedimentation studies to determine whether or
not Coyote Point and other Peninsula sites will silt in. Members of the
public need to be pointing out that studies aren't always right and the real
results often are hard or impossible to reverse once a plan is put in motion.
I still have to deal with analyzing wind tunnel data on the building which
will go up at 301 Airport Boulevard (upwind of Coyote Point launch), but if
anyone thinks that wind tunnel data might not describe the full impact to
windsurfing from the buildings, they should be at the public hearing on May
3rd to say so.

Peter
