I'm catching up at work after long day on Coyote issues yesterday and can't
give adetailed report now... should have one in the next day or so. Briefly:

301 Airport Boulevard:

The Planning Commission has set the action date for Wednesday May 3rd.
Commissioner Luzuriaga resisted pressure from the City Council to set an
earlier action date in order to hear the matter with the full Commission
present. Commissioner Dreiling would not have been available for April dates.
The Wednesday special meeting will be dedicated solely to approval or denial
of the 301 Airport Boulevard project.

SFO:

Airport Director John Martin stayed home sick but talked with us by
tele-conference for a brief period before we went on to meet with airport
staff (who seem much more knowledgeable on details) for another hour and a
half to address concerns and mitigation issues. We stressed that the impacted
areas are irreplacable and that we will oppose the runways to protect them,
but we also let them know that in the case that runways are built mitigation
needs to go as far as possible to address impacts. As Suzanne Suwanda put it
(I hope this is about right), any mitigation needs to be as grandious for
windsurfing as the runway plan is for the airport. We talked about what areas
would be good for mitigation and which areas would not. The airport staff
denies the rumor of an investigation into using India Basin as a mitigation
site. We as a broader community do need to explore what mitigation concepts
work and which ones don't.
