2 Reasons to Legally Mandate Bootie Usage While Windsurfing at 3rd Ave:
1) Barefoot windsurfers take forever to delicately tiptoe their way onto
and up the narrow ramp at 3rd Ave, exacerbarting the usual ramp traffic
jams; however, bootied windsurfers can much more quickly strut up the ramp.
2) Although the 3rd Ave MudMen anually remove hazards from the mud around
the ramp, each year a new crop of broken glass, fishhooks, metal shards,
seem to accumulate in the mud.

1) A article in the April issue of the Journal of Podiatry
indicated that wearing rubber-soled shoes in salt water can
lead to chronic exima, bacterial infections, corns, and tender
feet.
2) A recent joint study conducted by the Scripps Oceanographic
Institute and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI)
found that rubber can have detrimental effects on marine
ecosystems, including decreased fish population growth, algae
malformation, and blembs.
3) A double-blind research study conducted with over 200
participants by the Hood River Windsurfing School showed that 9
of 10 bootie-wears were actually able to jibe after taking off
their booties.
