I rented from Hi-Tech as well in Maui and was happy with their stuff. The
downside in renting there is that they do not carry a lot of the boards sold
around here (F2/Mistral) if you are interested in demo'ing boards. Hawaiian
Island Surf and Sport had more in the major production boards from what I
saw.

You could also try Maui Windsurfari for reasonable accomodations (same
location as Hi-Tech). You will find better deals on condo's and houses than
on hotels in general. I don't think there are much in the way of hotels on
the windward side of the island anyway.
