============= Fri 7 May 99 - 3rd - 4.9,4.4/257 (196#)

Big day. Some decent swell in spite of the flood.

============= Sun 9 May 99 - 3rd - 4.9/257 (196#)

Wind popped up to 22 knots at SFO, but not until the 2:50 SFO report.
Coyote did not pop up until 3:45! I have been noting this hour+ delay
for several weeks.

Arrived at 3rd at 3:45 to a rigging frenzy - everyone going down to
4.7-4.2 range. Went out with 4.9 (200#) and was quite happy from 4:15
to 4:45. Wind was way W (maybe SW) of usual direction; we were almost
up to marker 8. About 4:45 it gets light. We make a dash for the inside
and get about halfway there and then I'm swimming, swimming, swimming.
The wind came back to maybe 5.5 about 5:45 so I could slog in.

Not the best day.

"Accuracy in weather forecasting is like accuracy from a psychic: the
more vague the prediction, the higher the hit rate. The only completely
accurate predictions are the completely useless ones."
