============= Thu 22 Apr 99 - 3rd - 4.4/257 (200#)
Went to 3rd late since there was looow tide at 1:00. Took a 4.4, since
4.4-5.0 seemed about right and we figured the huge winds at the buoys would
arrive soon. Had a nice time in the channel, though the flood kept the
swell down pretty small. Voodoo chop inside.
After an hour or so (about 5:00) it started backing off a bit. I sailed
for another half hour expecting it to come back with a roar. When I
started slogging and losing ground to the flood, I finally made my run
for the launch. I came up short, but at least I was able to plane in to
*some* shore. Not too long and shameful a walk...
