Another downside to two-bolt bases is that you lose adjustment range. If the
two bolts are 4 inches apart, that's like shortening your mast track 4 inches
because the iniversal will never get closer than 2 inches to either end of the
track. That's bad if your track is only 10" to begin with! ANd it's the
reason I"ve never gone to that system myself.
