Strongly recommend Alameda, with onshore wind, superb sandy bottom (unless
low tide, then prepare to drag board 100 yds), and warmer and less chop.
Alternative is Berkeley Marina (docks area), but wind shadow, mucky bottom,
more chop outside, and colder. Tide not so much an issue. Also, probably
more crowded.
