The friends of San Carlos have been trying to meet with Solo
sports for quite some time, They informed us that they would respond
to written questions only. The following is the questions and answers.

                  Dear Ron & Kevin,

As promised, we are forwarding a list of general
questions we have received from various F.S.C. Members. As a group, we
are greatly concerned with recent developments, rumors and speculation
you may or may not be aware of. Iti is important to us and we feel to
you too, to answer these questions as soon as possible. We want to
put rumors and theories to rest. Our next news letter is near
completion and it would behoove you to respond ASAP. We look forward
to a face-to-face meeting at your earliest convenience.

                     Sincerely,

        Friends of San Carlos
        P.O. Box 234118
        Leucadia, CA 92023

(Written response from Solo received 08/21/97)
Out of courtesy and respect towards our fellow sailors, Solo Sports is
pleased to provide answers to the following questions posed by The
Friends of San Carlos:

                  1. What are your future plans for the entire San
Carlos area as a "Natural Windsurf & Camp Site?"

(Solo) Access is a significant issue in windsurfing.
Solo Sports is committed to insuring that San Carlos remains
accessible as a Top Wavesailing Destination for everyone.

                  2. What are your short & long-term plans for your
tours to San Carlos?

(Solo) Our presence at San Carlos involves
continuation of our tour groups and eventually developing a
Wavesailing Center. We will also be focusing our efforts on improving
the sanitation/trash issues on the point.

                3. What are you going to do with the trailers?

(Solo) Several ideas concerning trailers are being
considered to alleviate the current congestion near the point. As of
now the best solution seems to be a trailer park/storage area near the
foothills. When trailer owners visit San Carlos they tow their trailer
to the beach, when they leave they tow it back.

                  4. How large of an area do you plan on taking over
to create "Solo Camp" and are you going to move it off the bluff?

(Solo) We will be using enough area needed to
properly operate our facilities, but this will not displace other
campers/surfers along the bluff. At this time we havent decided to
relocate the position of our current camp.

                  5. What rights does your lease give you? A. How long
is the lease? B. How much does your lease cost per year? C. How much
land does the lease cover?

(Solo) Solo Sports has a 30 year lease of the land.
This covers control of all the land from the West end of the airstrip
to the Fish Camp and from the Pacific Ocean to the neighboring
foothills. Solo considers the financial details of the lease agreement
to be propriety information.

                  6. Do you have plans for any permanent structures?
We have heard rumors about:
A. Storage facilities
B. A Restaurant
C. Windsurf Shop
D. Shops

(Solo) At this time, future plans of any permanent
structures in the Solo Sports facilities are uncertain. If and when
the growth of San Carlos/Solo Sports warrants any of the above said
structures, plans will be developed at that time.

                  7. How are you going to control the trash - yours
and others?

(Solo) Visitors to San Carlos will have the choice
of either removing their own trash or Solo Sports will be disposing of
it for them.

                  8. Will you put another outhouse down by the South
Point?
(Solo) Yes, an outhouse will be provided at the
point. Others will be added in the future, if needed.

                  9. What is your perspective on Friends of San
Carlos? Do you support them as a concerned watchdog group representing
the feelings and attitudes of a majority of campers? Will you involve
them in your plans? Can we work together to preserve the areas? Will
you help develop and enforce some of the basic preservation policies
set forth by the F.S.C. via the majority of campers, ("haul-it-in,
haul-it-out," trash and dump (elimination of), sanitation issues,
crowding, access, trailers, airstrip and permanent structures)?

(Solo) We respect the opinions of others regarding
San Carlos. However, we are not sure that the Friends of San Carlos
reflect a majority of the opinion about the point. And we have stated
we are open to all suggestions on how best to developing a solution
where everyone wins.

                  10. Will you allow the F.S.C. to participate in
future plans for San Carlos and to what extent?

(Solo) Of course, we welcome the opinions and
suggestions of any groups or individuals regarding the future of San
Carlos. In fact, Solo Sports has solicited input from Steve Baralotti
from Surfer Magazine, Surfrider foundation and have reviewed all
websites regarding low impact camping as requested by Dave Flower. At
this time, Solo Sports would like to request the names and contact
information for the members of the Friends of San Carlos, so we may
directly solicit their input and keep them abreast of future
developments.

                  11. How much will camp fees increase? How will you
run the camping?

(Solo) Camp fees haven't increased for over ten
years, which has had a negative impact on the area. At this time,
camping will continue to be as it has in the past: On a first come
first serve basis. Fees are as follows:
Children under 12: Free
Dogs: Free
Per Day Rate: $5.00 per person per day
Season Pass: $150.00 1 person
                                   $250.00 2 people
                                   $350.00 3 people
Trailers: $50.00 per month to be paid one year
                                    in advance ($600 per year)
                                   $5.00 per person per day
                                   $10.00 each way transfer fee

                  12. What will your San Carlos presence be in the
"off-season"?

(Solo) Our commitment to San Carlos is year-round
and we will be maintaining the property on a year-round basis.

                  13. Do you plan to bring your own trailers down to
house your clients?

(Solo) At this time we have no plans to add any
new trailers.
