Subject: Footstraps
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

I've been having problems with my footstraps the last couple months. After
I waterstart and start moving back into the straps I seem to always step on
my back straps
and crush them. I then spend minutes tring to kick my toe into the back
strap with no avail
often heading upwind or crashing. I have a screamer II and Mistral straps.
 The straps always
seemed to deform too easily. I know the fix is not to step on the straps,
but in the mean time
I fixed mine so they don't crush. I took the straps off and took out the
adjustable velcro
inards. I then went down to Orchard Supply and found 1/8" sheet rubber
with cloth inserted
between layers. I bought a 1 foot square of the material. I then took the
velcro mess and used
that as a template to mark size and holes in the rubber. Each strip ended
up being about
2" wide and 10-12" long. I inserted these into the neoprene covers and
sailed yesterday. Yes I
still stepped on the straps but sproing they jump right back up. I just
though I might send this along.
