Yesterday was a good day with a lousy ending! 4.4 (220 lb) fully to
overpowered at Coyote. Having big fun until I got launched into the sail. I
had just waterstarted and was not yet into the straps when a big gust hit. Put
my hands out, landed on the sail, my left hand slid up the sail, and there was
a loud pop and a lot of pain.
Now I need orthpaedist and physical therapist recommendations for this
dislocated shoulder o' mine. I'm particularly interested in a windurfing
therapist, since they will be intimately familiar with the particular strains
that it puts on a shoulder.
Many thanks go to two Coyote regulars, Kieran and Kingsley! They took me to
the hospital, gathered my gear and car, and ferried me and the car and gear to
Mtn. View late in the evening! Please thank them and buy them beers the next
time you see them. I was lucky that this happened on the inside, because I
swam/drifted with my gear to the base of the jetty over by the Marina. Being
in the water for an hour, I was glad of a 5mm suit. I was a lot more helpless
than if I had broken some gear, and I'll soon be the proud owner of an ICOM VHF
radio. Any thoughts about which of their two waterproof models is better?
Fortunately yours-
