2 questions:
1. Everybody riding the small surf would ride it right into the sand.
Is this the right way to ride the surf at wadell?
You learn by experience how close you can get to the beach without
dragging your fin in the sand, just don't hit a rock. You might spend a
few evenings sanding your fin until you get the hang of it.
2. Wadell seems to be equipment hell. Are there any good rigging
areas? Any suggestions for keeping equipment and car clean?
You can rig/derig on the iceplant at the far end of the parking lot. This
keeps my gear reasonably clean. Any sand left on your sail will wash
off the next time you sail.
Your car will get dirty. I hose mine off, including underneath, to prevent
rust/salt from accumulating, about once a month.
