Subject: board sizes

Hmmm, I've got to throw in my $.02 worth on the board/fin/sail size debate.
Personally I like the larger board, smaller sail combination. I use a Tiga
257 (I know it's not that big) and have sailed it from 6.0 down to 3.2 (the
board felt kind of big in the air that day). I usually sail smaller than
anyone else my size (185#) I use the Tiga 280 bump & jump fin I have the foor
straps set 2 or 3 holes from the front. I've worked a lot on sail tuning and
sailing stance so I can carry smaller sails. I have to give credit to Owain
Chilton for pointing me in this dirrection. He is deffinetly the master of
eeking out power from the wind. Using the smaller sail makes jumping more
comfortable, none of that "oh my god I'm going way to fast/high/nose down
feeling, they also make transitions easier, and when you have to walk home
they are lighter to carry! Usually it's easier to slog on the big board/small
sail combo than vice versa. I used to use a bigger pointer on my board but it
cracked & since I got this b&j fin I havn't missed the pointer.
Aquafraternally :D

PS Justin, 3rd was great yesterday, I sailed 4.8 from 4 till around 7:30.
We're going to be ebbing this weekend, maybe we'll see you down here.
