I launched at 3rd yesterday at 6:00pm on my 5.8/8'10" rig, and sailed
for an hour with plenty of wind in the channel. It looked dead from the
beach, but it actually was very good. People were leaving, but it was
still very nice. Much to my suprise, I planed up about 50 yards off of
the beach, and stayed on a plane all the way out to the channel. When the
tide is low and the water shallow, it doesn't look as windy as it is.

Just a FYI.
