Subject: Re: Bodega/Tomales Forecast

Geoffrey asks about Tomales/Bodega forecast.

The Windsight forecast for Tomales/Bodega is almost always accurate since we
have wind sensors, barometers etc at both sites. In addition our through our
FishSite service we have over 8 commercial fishing boats giving us radio
reports via VHF on the wind conditins offshore so we can track the movement
of the windline as it approaches the shore from the buoys. This time of year
the NW winds typically stay 6 to 10 miles from shore so don't always trust
the buoys. See my recent article in Windtracks magazine for an explaination
of why the winds do not fill in too well this time of the year.

Anyway, Bodega and Tomales were fogged in until late on the 4th of July when
the wind kicked in 18 to 22 knots on the Windsight sensor. In this light of
wind only Hart's Beach at Bodega is sailable.
