I'm even more aggressive on my aluminum boom retirement, after 1 season I rotate the boom to backup status (chinook), and get a new one. The prices are so
reasonable it seems to make a lot of sense. I leave the backup in my truck, and it's only purpose is to be sailed out to me if I break a primary.
