Arrived at 4:30 to much hemming and hawing by the locals about whether
it was really windy or not. By 4:45 a wind dummy hit the wind line fully
powered on what looked like a 5.5 wave sail. Some said "Gee, he's not
powered", but I recognized that he was just sheeting out to maintain
control. By this time the wind sock at the airport had turned from west
to north. A second wind dummy on a 5.4 gave confidence to my choice of a
5.1 race sail (140#, Tiga 260). People were ariving from sights north
with sad looks in their eyes.

I was overpowered when I hit the water sometime after 5:00. The ramps
were small compared with 3rd, but very steep. I took one particularly
high elevator ride. It was hard to keep the board on the water and I was
spinning out all over the place when I wasn't jumping. Went in and moved
my mast foot forward some, that helped with the spins. Lots of chop
hops. As the tide began to ebb it got flatter, much less air time but
still overpowered, on the edge of control. I had somewhere to be later
so I didn't rig down even though I came in to rest a bit. Saw the clouds
heading overhead at around 6:35, so I headed in, planed almost all the
way to the dock. It died completely within fifteen minutes. Late
arrivals got stuck doing the hulla and walking through the mud.
