Sailed San Luis Res. yesterday. I am 210#, 6'2" and was on a 4.1 fully down
hauled and flatten. I wish I had a 3.6. I believe it was gusting to 50. An
outhouse even blew over!
The sailing was pretty fun once I got used to the puffs. Only problem was
that the water level was wayyyyyyyy low. You would begin to carve a 40 mph
jibe and your skeg would stick in 10" or less of water and you fly. This only
happened to me a couple of times till I figured out where some deep spots were
for jibing, but my neck is a little sore.
A buddy of mine went out for .5 hour and called it quits. I have found that
if you hang in for a while you really get used to the high winds and toward
the end of the session was feeling quite comfortable, confident enought to try
for some air.
I love this adrenalin stuff!
