My 2d favorite flat water sailing location came through again! The whole
Peninsula was hot as hell, and *dead*, so once again I made the trek
north. Met Mike, Robin, Joe and the crew there. Totally flat and dead.
Came up marginally at 5:00, so I risked my 5.5 on my 8'8" (wishful
thinking - I didn't bring my big board). A wisp of fog is sitting just
beyond the gap, but no wind, yet. The temp is still over 80, but dropping
fast. Planed right out of the gate, but on my 3d jibe, I fell and I
couldn't get up! Ended up in the wind shadow, and sat in the water for
about 15 minutes. I'm thinking, this sucks, I sure as hell hope I don't
have to swim back.

Well, a puff gets me back inside the wind shadow and I start struggling
my way back upwind and to shore. What was formerly is wisp is filling in
real good now (5:30). I start planin'. After about 30 more minutes, the
fog is pouring in with a vengance, temp is now about 65, and everbody's
planing. Ended up being totally overpowered on the 5.5, and sailed until
7:15, when the last bits of light went behind the fog bank and
mountains.

This wind junkie really needed a fix, and that was just what the doctor
ordered.

I considered going to Crissy, since the CotW pager was reporting 22 at
about 4:45. Didn't want to deal with traffic, so I didn't go into the
city. Did the fog shut things down early up there? I noticed it backed off
appreciably about an hour later (13).
