I think you're referring to Precision Technical Sewing which is at the
other end of the building from West Marine. I just had a repair done
there (a small panel) and was happy with it. They are not inexpensive,
but I definitely get the impression they will stand behind their work.

A week after that repair, I had another failure that had an inexpensive
solution. I have a Neil Pryde 5.0 MPR that must be 3-4 years old where
the batton burst through the batton pocket (at the end that meets the
mast). This is the batton that operates the camber inducer and the sail
was unusable without this batton in place. In these sails, the batton
pocket is sewn onto the sail. (I've had North sails in the past where
it's a user-replacable part). PTS wanted $80 to open up and fortify the
batton pocket, and it would have taken around a week. This is an old
sail and not worth pumping $80 into. The solution I ended up going with
was to have my local shoe repair guy sew a 1-foot length of 1" kevlar
webbing around the batton sleeve & pocket without taking anything
apart. PTS gave me the kevlar because it was too small a peice to
charge for and the shoe guy charged $12 to sew it into place. And it
worked (so far).
