If you have a choice, I would buy an emergency radio that uses
disposable batteries rather than rechargeables. Put a new set in at
the beginning of the season, test the radio from time to time, and you
will be fine. I find that my rechargeable batteries run down way too
quickly. Also buy the water proof pouch for the water proof radio to
help the radio last longer.
