I've used my harness and helmit for drag on different occassions.
The harness trick worked the best because I could more securely
fasten it to the bottom of the board for more efficient drag
(although the arms were noodles by the time I reached shore).
(Assuming a standard fin box) What I've since done is created a
safety fin out of an otherwise useless old fin. I added second
metal tab toward the front of the fin. With the two metal tabs (one
is front and one in back) you just slip it into the fin box and the
drag will seat the fin in the back of the box. And away you go.
