I have to kill a long weekend in Costa Rica later this month.
Obviously, I want to spend it windsurfing. I'd love your personal
recommendation about where to go and stay. I will be traveling
solo, so the presence of other friendly windsurfers would definitely
be a plus.

I visited Costa Rica in the early '90s. I spent a few days in March
at the Hotel Tillawa and that seemed like the nicest hotel in the
area. It cost about $50 or $60/night. Due to lack of wind, I only
managed to sail for one day. I also drove up to Bolinas bay, but at
that time there was no hotel and also no wind. I understand that
there is now a hotel with rental equipment in the area. I would go
back to either one of these places or anywhere else that you can
personally recommend where the wind is good and the rental equipment
is good. Wavesailing is preferred, but as far as I know, Bolinas
Bay doesn't have wave sailing. Also as far as I know, the good surf
spots are either not particularly windy or don't have good rental
equipment.
