Hi all,

I recently learned that the Hawaiian islands have been having an unusual
outbreak of Dengue Fever (viral pathogen carried by mosquitos). The
outbreak appears to be concentrated on the east side of Maui in the region
of Hana. See the following links for more info.

I hope that this does not affect any travel plans. You don't want dengue
fever, so if you are going to Maui be sure to bring lots of mosquito
repellant, especially formulations with a high DEET content (like "Deep
Woods OFF"). While in Costa Rica I used sunscreen with mosquito repellant
in it made by OFF (very convenient product).

Take care,
David
