As for when the airport plans might proceed, no one
really knows. One thing is for sure, though: The
ever-optimistic Mayor Willie Brown wants to move
ahead.

"We're going to need a place for those F-16 fighter
planes to take off and land -- fast -- because when
they go up, they've got to go up now," Willie said.
<<

This quote is completely ironic!
The only reason to scramble the F16s is to shoot down
a 'stray' commercial flight! Washington's National
Reagan airport was closed because of their take-off
proximity to Capitol Hill. This is analogous
to SFO's path near the SF skyline. For 'safety',
SFO should be moved to the East Bay allowing
plenty of time for the F-16s to intercept. %^(
An East Bay major hub would best serve the region.
With the billions saved, from not destroying the bay, we
should implement a safe high speed magnetic rail system.

While it is a focus to scramble SF F16s for 'safety'..
I am enjoying long drives!
