Thanx for the CC on that email.

I suspect that there are some cultural prejudices at work here.

Kayakers are seen as very quiet, passive, silently gliding on still waters
with their field guide to shorebirds close at hand - while windsurfers are
out shredding the Bay at high speed. Sort of like mature cross-country
skiers v. reckless snowboarders.

Not a fair analogy at all, but I think that perception is at least part of
the underlying dynamic. All the more reason to be involved in this
process, and to insist that planners show rational justification for the
different intensity classifications.

At my table, area 4, there was 100% agreement for off-leash dogs on both
Pt. Isabel and Battery Point, and for improved windsurfer and kayak
support facilities at the launch site at Pt. Isabel. What we didn't know,
and didn't have much time to discuss, was exactly what sort of
improvements would work best. Parking, bathrooms, showers, etc. are the
easy answers. What sort of shoreline detail would be best, assuming
there's money to build some sort of concrete or gravel structure to
replace the big rocks? And is there any interest in on-site storage? Even
if you don't use public transit or your bike, it saves a lot of driving
and a lot of time if you can go straight to the launch site after work
without having to go home first to get the gear.
