Don't forget to let the Coast Guard know when gear isleft in the Bay. It will
prevent any search and rescue for someone who is already back on land and it
could save you a lot of money in terms of gear replacement. Luckily I know
how to contact this guy, so he is getting his gear back even though he
clearly had written it off as lost forever since he didn't report it. His
buddy who reported him missing in the first place marks his gear with name
and telephone number and got a rig back after it was later recovered on the
shoreline.

(2) Bud System

My understanding is that you may have a drinking problem if you drink
alchohol alone. I'm not so sure that that drinking Buds (or even smoking
buds) actually exempts one from this rule. By a drinking problem, I really
mean that you may encounter problems that stem from your drinking. When it
comes to actually accomplishing the task of drinking, I am sure that you are
rather adept at getting the liquid down your throat. From a rehydration
perspective, you should drink at least 2 pints of water for every Bud... but
please don't pee in our pristine river.
