The setup worked great until my rig and board separated while sailing up
at
the gorge last week. It turned out that the pin at the bottom of the
universal had sheared off. I'm not sure if the metal-type base had
anything
to do with it or if i was just unlucky and got a weak pin/bolt. But it
seemed very strange to have that happen after only 12 or so sessions.
i'd
be curious to hear if anyone else has had this happen with almost new
stuff.

I should also say that thanks to the folks on this list i was able to
sail
in pretty painlessly with no damage to my board. thanks
