Your Veloce is do-able in the bay especially at candlestick or coyote/third
when it's not too choppy. I (210lbs) used a mistral 298 for a couple of
years and you being 200 lbs does not make that to large of a board. You WILL
outgrow it soon if you plan to sail alot. Rent a Start or Go Board for a
couple of sessions for your girl friend then a couple of sessions on the
veloce and she should be ready for a 100-120 liter board to learn getting in
the straps and harness with. If she sticks with it she will surely outgrow
the Start or Go board in less than a season. But if you guys are the every
other weekend warrior types then maybe a Go Board would be good for a year
or two, especially during the later months of the season when it starts to
get light.
