I went to Kauai three years ago. The nice hidden beach is called Anini Beach.
It's a lagoon, perfect for learning, excellent campground. In the afternoons,
people were sailing with 6.0 there. Further west on the North Coast, there
is a launch at the YMCA camp. I saw some people sailing with 5s there. few
sails and remote place. Where I saw the most windsurfers was on the south
Coast just east of Poipu, sailing a big wave a hundred yard off shore. The
current there is very strong, these were 4.5-5.0 conditions. The guy with
the trailer at Anini is the only place I saw renting gear. I may have been
there during a windy week, end of May. My girlfriend sailed everyday at Anini,
myself I just surfed at Hanalei Bay.
