Ken-

Not recently, but my Apelco 520 I bought a couple years ago (now Raymarine
100 series, not sure which exact model), is still going strong. Selectable
1/3/5 watt (now 6 watt) transmit power, full immersion rating. Don't know
if still available from West Marine, but here's the website:

ml

I like it because of the size, form factor and transmit power. Don't know
if transmit power makes a difference for Third, given the proximity of
Coyote Point Harbor, Hayward and Foster City Radio (CG Auxilliary), but you
can never be too careful.

FYI, the battery contacts rusted a couple times, but West Marine and
Raytheon service fixed it for me free of charge.
