Lots...I hope someone else can offer good advice on choosing the best; I'm
not sure. Try http://www.sfba.org/shops.html for a list of local shops
with URL's and phone numbers; it's a start.

I like a 4/3 for sailing in the Bay this time of year; I have friends who
prefer 2/3's and 5/4's. Depends on your tastes.

You can check http://ports-infohub.nos.noaa.gov/ports/hubs/san_francisco_bay/
for some water temperature readings; when I looked they had two at 55 and 57
deg F. How's that compare to home?

For beginners, there are lots of options depending on how much money you
want to spend...from the cheapskate way of Cal Sailing Club (see
http://www.cal-sailing.org) to pro instruction/rentals from some of the shops.

Both Berkeley and Coyote/ASD seem OK, if you're into intermediate level flat
water or light to medium B&J. Anybody else have an idea?

Different sites get good wind on different days, especially in Spring, and
having a vehicle with a roof rack rather than being tied to one site could
improve your chance of catching good wind. I think the Peninsula is usually
but not always favored over the East Bay during that time of year.
