Sharks are so sensitive, they can actually detect an increase in your heart
rate! (Through EM waves in muscles). Being relaxed is definitely key.

Also, try to avoid flashing light-colored objects near the surface - through
shark eyes, this looks like fish. (E.g. bare hands and feet sticking out
the end of a wetsuit). It's doubtful that you will receive a full-blown
chomp to the mid-section while waterstarting, but if in doubt, try to
minimize kicking and hand movements while treading water.
