Sorry to hear that you have been hit... must be tough..
Last year I have seen a ball landing on a car parked next to mine.
I am not a US citizen nor aware of the local legislation...
However, in my opinion the parking is public and operated under the city
(Foster City) regulations - right ?
Hopefully a lawyer would help you to identify who is responsible : the
golf club or the city.
Some signs have been added (was it last year ?) : "Watch for golf
balls".
Has it been done by the city to avoid lawsuits ?
Here the conclusion of this story :
There is slightly more chances of being hit by a golf ball at Third than
bitten by a shark at Waddell.
In the last case you will even have Discovery Channel's coverage as a
shark attack survivor.

i share you feelings on the ball hit. hope you get well soon too.
...now that shark analogy could be worth pondering.
specially since i use odds as a way to fend off shark fears...
honestly, it works ok till i've been down in the water over 30 seconds. it's
right then that i rush out of the water as if ejected by a sudden
waterstart...i wonder if the local tv stations back home (spain) would be
interested in the discovery channel's shark story too...maybe i should just
get a helmet as suggested and leave the shark alone (i just saw a movie with
sharks in it, ok?)
incidentally, thank everyone for your feedback on gear insurance.
many of you responded and where very generous sharing your experiences. it's
amazing how empowering shared information can be
...now, if i can only take a break from chasing the wind one of this
evenings, and go talk to the local state farm agent...i am empowered but
still procastinating.
