Anyone willing to do a piece on the golf ball hazards at 3rd for the SFBA
newsletter and web site? While it can be a good thing to sic attnys on the
cause of one's demise, we also best start educating people on the risks and
measures to be taken to maximize safety. And we need to get the word out to get
a critical mass of people hot and bothered enough about it such that someone
will force the issue towards a solution. Any takers on either score.... article
and/or point person to address the issue?

Next SFBA Board meeting is this Thursday, July 27th, at 7:30 at St Francis Yacht
Club next to Crissy Field. Anyone want to build critical mass on this issue or
others, come to this meeting. If you have a concern or a gripe that is
windsurfing related and you want change but are missing a component(s) to make
it happen... don't have the time, resources, network or whatever... then
consider joining our growing SFBA Rapid Response Network and 'make it easy for
others to help you' to make things happen. Come to the SFBA meeting this
Thursday and get your issue on the table, get an update on current issues and
events, and/or join others in making a difference. - Bill Robberson

Subject: Golf ball injury - this has gone for long enough

Yesterday I was hit on the side of the head by a golf ball at 3rd while
puttting my wetsuit. The impact knocked me off - it felt as if someone had
clubbed me from behind. An hour later I had a bruise the side of an egg
over my ear, at at the urging of my wife and local police I ended up at the
Sequoia Hospital emergency. Fortunately there seems to be no skull
fracture, although I still have a headache and should watch for symptoms
over the next days. The nurse who examined me initially told me a kid
could easily have been killed by such an impact.

This situation has now gone for long enough, with nothing being done
despite repeated incidents. - I WILL take legal action before anyone gets
killed. Could anyone on this list refer me to a good attorney? In the
meantime, I urge people who bring their kids to 3rd Av. to have them wear
bike helmets at all time.
