For the record: My renter's insurance (Allstate at the time) covered my
board, stolen off someone else's vehicle while on a road trip. They paid
full replacement cost.

Subject: RE: gear insurance
I've got a boat policy from State Farm for all my gear. It costs about
$90/yr and covers two boards, five-sail quiver, three masts, and two booms
at full replacement cost. I think its $100 deductible. Stolen off the car,
its covered. Boating accident (break a mast and ditch the rig to paddle
back), it's covered.
I've not made any claims against the policy, so check the fine print before
you buy.
Hope this helps-
