My agent told me that too, a few years ago. Then my gear was stolen
off my cartop while on vacation. When I made the claim, I was referred
to a sub-sub-sub-paragraph that said something like "personal
watercraft are not covered while not located at the insured premises
(my house)." So my gear was covered on my cartop only while I was
parked at my house!

But I got lucky. My agent recalled what she had told me, and had the
claim covered anyway.

So read that policy carefully. The reason it's so thick is it lists
everything NOT covered!

Good Luck,
--Rick

My home owners insurance covers my boards on my car. My insurance
agent
said that all I needed was a picture of the loaded car.

Subject: gear insurance

i talked to a couple of sailors in the past who had insurance in order
to
protect the gear on their cars from thieves. i would like to drive my
gear
into the city for afterwork sessions. can anyone offer some pointers
regarding coverage, rates, limitations...? will the gear need to be
"locked"

to be covered? has anyone had to go through the claim process?

any feedback will be appreciated,

-manuel
