You are thinking of cutting a hole in your box? Don't do it, I say. Those
things are pretty fragile! I'm on my second box. Any large cuts in the box
may greatly weaken the overall structure, not that you can't do it, but there
isn't much plastic thickness to work with there.

Cheaper and more to the point, do what I did and get a section of ABS pipe from
the local hardware store, glue an encap and a screw cap on it and attach it to
your rack. I had to spring for wider bars for the Thule rack fit the Board,
pipe and box on but has worked great for years. I attach the pipe with two
large hose stainless hose clamps, but there are other hardware that can work and
look cleaner. I put a lock hasp on the threaded cap to make sure it doesn't
rattle open as I zip down the freeway and I so I can put a paddlelock on the
thing to give it a look of security. I pull both off in the winter because I
think the stuff greatly affects gas milage due to air turbulance.

Good luck,

-Tom
