Actually, in most typical boom breakage cases, the boom can be flipped
without disconnecting the rig from the board and without removing the
uphaul. Here's how:

- untie outhaul
- unclamp boom from mast
- drop boom down to board level.
- if the boom arm is broken somewhere, (typically where it inserts into the
front end for Chinooks), just pass the universal/bottom of rig through the
broken part of the boom, flip the boom, and put the boom back on the rig the
in the same way. This may require tipping the board up on its side
momentarily to make the pass-through.

The avantage of this approach is that the rig doesn't have to be
disconnected from the board. Trying to manage a disconnected rig, board,
and boom in rough waters can certainly be a handful.
