I like sailing at "Apple Maggots".

And besides, there is no wind in Seattle. And when it does get windy it's
freezing and gusty, and the wind is shifting all the time. And the Gorge is
only 3, no, 4 hours away...

People who don't work, they can probably move to the Gorge. But for the
rest of us who have day jobs being within 30 minutes from prime sailing
places like Crissy, 3rd/Coyote, and Wadell helps.

Plus, quite frankly, as far as the sights are concerned, I like the sailing
under the GG bridge better than ANYWHERE in the Gorge that I've seen.

actually i prefer the sound when it blows - and i'm a catsailor at heart
anyway. if you could sail with mount rainier (or the san juans) in sight
... or oakland? ick - you pick ... i'm not saying the bay's all bad, but i
have a cottage less than 50 yards from the shore - a bay is my front yard,
which is just around the point from the lake ... and i can see mountains in
every direction, including rainier. i don't have any roommates, and i don't
have to lock my doors, ... and i only pay $500/month! of course, i can't
make the big bucks like you guys ... (at least not until i finish law
school anyway) ... but i don't need to. there's good stuff down there in
san francisco - i admit, and i totally love stanford (though it lacks
water). and you're definitely right about there being wave-surfers and
swell-surfers. my ex moved to outer richmond with his lengthy slalom board
and hates the beating he gets at crissy. if i had the skill, i'd probably
love to kick it up (and over) there, but i can't live without my mountains
and my always lush green trees and groundcover. i've been in seattle so
long that i hate it when it's too hot to wear a sweatshirt and i think i've
got moss growing in my ears! didn't mean to totally trash the bay area -
it's actually one of the few places i would move to if i had to move
somewhere else in the us.
