actually i prefer the sound when it blows - and i'm a catsailor at heart
anyway. if you could sail with mount rainier (or the san juans) in sight
... or oakland? ick - you pick ... i'm not saying the bay's all bad, but i
have a cottage less than 50 yards from the shore - a bay is my front yard,
which is just around the point from the lake ... and i can see mountains in
every direction, including rainier. i don't have any roommates, and i don't
have to lock my doors, ... and i only pay $500/month! of course, i can't
make the big bucks like you guys ... (at least not until i finish law
school anyway) ... but i don't need to. there's good stuff down there in
san francisco - i admit, and i totally love stanford (though it lacks
water). and you're definitely right about there being wave-surfers and
swell-surfers. my ex moved to outer richmond with his lengthy slalom board
and hates the beating he gets at crissy. if i had the skill, i'd probably
love to kick it up (and over) there, but i can't live without my mountains
and my always lush green trees and groundcover. i've been in seattle so
long that i hate it when it's too hot to wear a sweatshirt and i think i've
got moss growing in my ears! didn't mean to totally trash the bay area -
it's actually one of the few places i would move to if i had to move
somewhere else in the us.
