A couple of things about money. URS Greiner, the firm doing the EIR/S
for the Airport and the FAA, has been awarded contracts on the order of
$7.5 million so far. And the Draft EIR/S isn't due until Dec. 2001 as
of now. I'd guess that number will go up.
BTW, URS Greiner is owned by Richard Blum, also known as Mr Dianne
Feinstein. See
<http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/1999/09/08/MN80497.DTL>

In addition, the public relations budget, approved by the Airport
Commission is well over a million. We're looking a real money here. In
fact, I'd include the $1.25 million for the five companies that were
awarded contracts in the design contest under "public relations." There
was no real attempt to find innovative solutions to SFIA's problems,
just new ways to build runways (Read "destroy the Bay").

And BCDC is a political body. That just means we have to bring
political pressure to bear and we can. If enough of us stand up for the
Bay.
